If, like me, you think that eating the recommended five portions of fruits and vegetables every day is daunting enough, get a load of the latest news saying the amount should really be twice that, as per a new “major” study. In terms of weight, we’re talking upping F&V consumption to 800 grams, or 200 grams short of a kilo! (I know, I know: you can do your own math; I just wanted to hammer that in.)
Now is perhaps a good time to buy into Donald Trump’s “alternative facts” and have him proclaim pork a vegetable, but who am I kidding? At the rate he is making enemies (and dubious friends), I have a bigger chance of dying from radioactive fallout than from eating unhealthily. And speaking of the latter, I must point out that I did not purposely use pechay to make a dig at vegetarians — someone did die from eating too much of it raw — it just so happened to be the last vegetable dish we had.
