A blue moon is not necessarily (or even actually) blue. You are perhaps more familiar with it as a full moon that occurs in the same month as the previous full moon. So why is tonight’s full moon considered blue when it is neither of the above reasons? Apparently, if there are four full moons in an astronomical season — right now, spring, which this year spans the period from March 20 to June 21 — the third is considered blue* (the last/next full moon of the season will be on June 20).
The full moon is associated with madness (hence “lunatic”). I have a couple of girl friends who embody that spirit at the sight of that orb hanging in the sky. I am more circumspect because I do the marketing and have to face its practical implications (no fish!). Sometimes I do not even bother to go, like now. Instead I stay in and do something just as frustrating, like catching up on the latest season of Game of Thrones. And baking.
Forget that bread up top. It looks amazing, which is the only positive thing I have to say about it. I went on to make one more, and it came out worse. So I decided to do garlic bread next (because I’m a glutton for punishment, and also because no one was around to make lunch for). I stuck the dough in the refrigerator, and, when I checked four hours later, found that it had not risen at all. Pistot. I took the bowl out, left it on the counter, and went back to catch Jon Snow rising from the dead — the sight of his bare ass the only thing worth watching so far. Then I slept.
Did you know that the first oyster sauce was the result of some Chinese cook losing track of time? Well, it was a good thing I did not outright chuck the dough into the trash bin, because by the time I remembered to, it had bulked up! I heated the oven forthwith, fashioned the dough into rolls, and prayed for the best (the Onion Knight telling the Lord Commander to “fail again” was still ringing in my ears).
I got this:
–and can’t begin to tell you how excellent it was, not least because I’m set to go out and do not have the time to write some more. I will definitely get back to you tomorrow with the recipe. Enjoy your evening.
